At DanzAlma Academy, we are committed to providing exceptional dance education in a supportive, inclusive, and inspiring environment. Every student is given equal opportunities to grow, learn, and thrive. Our faculty consists of highly qualified, experienced instructors who teach using safe dance practices, developmentally appropriate techniques, and age‑appropriate choreography and music.

The well‑being, safety, and artistic development of our students is always our highest priority.

Dress Code & Uniform Standards

A professional appearance supports discipline, safety, and confidence. All students must attend class in the required dancewear for their program. Uniforms and footwear must be purchased through the DanzAlma Academy Shop to ensure consistency and quality.

General Requirements

  • Only form-fitting dancewear is allowed, with baggy clothing permitted only for Hip Hop classes.

  • No jewelry except small stud earrings.

  • Hair must be securely tied back; ballet students must wear a bun.

  • No outdoor shoes on studio floors; dance shoes must never be worn outside.

  • Students should bring a labeled water bottle to every class.

Program‑Specific Dress Code

Ballet Programs

  • Academy Ballet leotard (program color‑coded) and ballet skirt

  • Pink or white tights

  • Ballet demi-pointe and pointe shoes

  • Yoga mat and warm‑up wraps (for younger levels)

  • Intermediate & Advanced: Tutus permitted only if knees and ankles remain visible

  • No dance pants permitted in any ballet class

Acro‑Dance & Jazz

  • Form‑fitting dancewear (leotards, jazz pants, sports bras, fitted tops), (program color‑coded)

  • Tan jazz shoes or tan turners (half‑soles)

  • Color of attire corresponds to program level

  • Hair must be tightly secured for safety during acrobatic work

  • Yoga mat for floorwork and conditioning

Hip Hop

  • Hip Hop practice attire , baggy clothes permitted (no jeans)

  • Clean indoor sneakers reserved for studio use only

  • Comfortable, flexible clothing that allows full range of movement

International Latin, American Rhythm and Club Style

  • Latin dance practice clothing (black preferably), check our shop for options

  • Latin dance shoes (heel height appropriate for age and level)

Attendance Policy

Consistent attendance is essential for progress, confidence, and class cohesion. Students are expected to arrive on time, prepared, and ready to participate.

  • Absences due to injury, illness, or vacation may be made up within four weeks, following the absence if the Academy has been contacted beforehand.

  • No refunds or credits are issued for missed classes.

  • Severe weather: DanzAlma Academy may remain open even if local schools close. Please contact the Academy directly for updates, or keep an eye on the group chat updates.

Studio Rules & Etiquette

To maintain a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment, students must:

  • Remove jewelry before class (stud earrings permitted).

  • Wear correct uniform and footwear for their program.

  • Keep hair secured away from the face; ballet students must wear a bun.

  • Bring only water into the studio — no food, gum, or other beverages.

  • Refrain from talking while the instructor is teaching.

  • Keep cell phones and electronic devices stored away.

  • Avoid touching mirrors, sitting on barres, or engaging in horseplay.

  • Remain inside the studio until a parent/guardian arrives for pickup.

  • Only enter studios for classes in which they are enrolled.

  • Treat instructors and classmates with respect, kindness, and a positive attitude.

Parent & Guardian Responsibilities

Parents and guardians play an important role in supporting their dancer’s success.

  • Arrive five minutes before class ends for timely pickup.

  • Ensure students arrive on time and prepared.

  • Wait in the designated waiting area; studio classes observation is offered every two months.

  • Encourage bathroom use before class begins.

  • Children who are not potty‑trained must have a caregiver remain on site.

  • Keep waiting areas quiet and free of food or beverages (water permitted).

  • Provide a doctor’s note for any injury requiring modifications or restrictions.

Payment Options & Financial Policies

Group Lessons

  • Tuition is paid at the time of enrollment through the website, which secures your spot in the class you’re signing up for.

  • DanzAlma Academy will offer early bird discount codes online to help clients save money, though using them is completely optional. We reserve the right to manage and adjust these discounts.

  • Tuition is charged per term instead of per class and applies only to group sessions, unless you decide to drop in for a class to try it out before committing to the full program.

  • Accepted payment methods: cash, cheque, e‑transfer, Visa, MasterCard (fees apply), debit.

  • Returned cheques: $25 fee; after two occurrences, cash only.

  • Standard rate: $20 + HST per one‑hour class. (other fees may apply for credit cards and website payment processing)

  • Discounts available for multiple weekly classes or family members (conditions apply).

Competitive Program

  • Tuition is divided into three equal installments plus costume fees when applicable.

  • First installment is due at registration; space is not reserved until payment is received.

  • Accepted payment methods: cash, cheque, e‑transfer, Visa, MasterCard, debit.

  • Returned cheques: $25 fee; after two occurrences, cash only.

Private Lessons

  • Fees are due at the time of registration, either in person or through the website.

  • Accepted payment methods: cash, cheque, e‑transfer, Visa, MasterCard, debit.

  • Returned cheques: $25 fee; after two occurrences, cash only.

Private Lesson Rates

Private – 1 hour: $50 + $20 = $70 + HST (min 10 lessons)

Semi‑Private (2 students): $30 each student + 10 each = $40 each + HST (min 10 lessons)

  • Discounts available when 20 private lessons are booked in advance

  • DanzAlma Academy reserves the right to offer promotional fees or family discounts.
